The Harvest

Genesis 28-29 Matthew 9:18-38 Psalm 11 Proverbs 3:11-12

The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. – Matthew 9:37-38

His stories were captivating. A man in Zimbabwe who’s life was completely turned around. A thousand kids who would have an opportunity to go to high school who wouldn’t otherwise. Real people who who’s lives will never be the same because someone decided to give to others. Some gave their time and skill to help build houses, schools, and churches. Others gave money to supply the workers with the materials and finances they needed to build.

It is so easy to think that someone else will do it. Someone else will give the money. Someone else will go over and build. Someone else will tell those people that God is real and that He really does love them. Just think, how many more buildings could be built? How many more people could be told if we decided not to wait for someone else to give, but to give ourselves? The giving doesn’t have to go to another country. It can start right where you are today. Ask God how He can use you to help with the harvest today.

Lord Jesus, we want to help with Your harvest. But we’re scared and we don’t think we have what it takes. We’re also very comfortable the way we are and it is hard to give. Help us to have compassion on those who are in need physically, emotionally, and spiritually today. Amen.
